LP Transportation

Time to figure out your transportation situation. First, use the following information to decide if you’d like to buy a new car, buy a used car or lease a car.

Next write up an example of a buying and leasing option that looks like this:
Life Practice – Transportation

Buying

To find a car to buy, search AutoTrader.com. You could also check “used car dealership” followed by the city or state you plan to live in.

Once you find a car you like, use the Bankrate Auto Calculator to figure out your loan payment amount. Find your interest rate in the table below the calculator.

Create a Google document called LP-Transportation. Add the following transportation information to your Google Doc for buying a car:

  • Year, Make and Model of Car and a link to the ad
  • Cost
  • Monthly Payment Amount
  • a picture of the car, and a link to website you found it on
  • A screen shot of the Bankrate Auto Loan Calculator with your information on it.

Leasing

Next, find a leasing option and put the lease information on the LP_Transportation doc. Include:

  • Year, Make and Model of Car and a link to the ad
  • Down Payment Amount
  • Monthly Payment Amount and length of term
  • Mileage allowed per year
  • A screen shot of the Bankrate Auto Loan Calculator with your information on it.

Finally, research the public transportation options for your commute to work. What options do you have? How much do they cost? How much walking will be involved?

Add a link to your Google Doc for the page with fare prices, and if possible, add a screen shot and cost for the actual route you would use.
