Summer is coming and imagine your family has decided to hit the road. You have the job of planning an itinerary and calculating a budget. Your plan should include 5 destinations. Choose diverse options. Consider points of interest that:
- have an historical connection
- exhibit unique or interesting natural phenomenon
- have a connection to literature or science
- are noteworthy in pop culture or because of their opulence
- theme parks or straight up tourist destinations
As you plan you need to figure out how you are traveling, where you’re staying, what you’re eating and doing from day to day, and what you may have to rent or buy during your trip.
Create a Google Doc called “Perfect Vacation”. Go to File>Page Setup and change the orientation to landscape. Insert a 9×6 table with the following headings:
- Destination
- Mode of Transportation
- Estimated Cost
- Lodging
- Estimated Cost
- Food
- Estimated Cost
- Activities
- Estimated Cost
Below the table, write a short vignette describing the gist of where you are going and what you plan to do there. Research transportation, lodging, food and activities and complete the table for each of your destinations. Include links that show costs for hotels, restaurants, theme parks, entrance fees, or whatever other costs you incur on your trip. Each of your 5 destinations should have a paragraph vignette describing your trip, and a row on the table with brief descriptions and costs. Example
